Reviews of our appearance at the BJC 2002 (Whitstable)
...The stars of the show by far
were Vova & Olga, their first act was more of the same club passing seen in
Cardiff, all hard & fast stuff, tricks & kickups with numbers, & some solo five
club work from Vova. & oh look as well as being great jugglers they can do
acrobatics as well. The final act of the show saw Vova come on stage dressed
smartly in a suit with full tails. & oh look not only is he a great juggler &
acrobat, he can also play the piano. While he played his sister came out from
behind the piano juggling five balls & turned the music over so that her brother
would play some more up beat music. They then took turns playing the piano &
juggling via some slick stealing, & also both played together while passing. I
wonder if we can get hold of a piano for TWJC? ... & although every act was good
only Vova & Olga provided the really spectacular, receiving a very well deserved
standing ovation for their efforts.

...Vova and Olga were once again brilliant, I saw them at Crawley last summer
and it was nice to see how their act is developing and especially nice to see
Olgas stage personal coming on, her impish character sits well on a young and
very talented juggler...

Then there was some other stuff and then came Vova and Olga, two young Russians
who are far too talented and will be shot before they reach puberty. Seriously (folks!!)
they were great and are personal friends. Their second act involving the ball
juggling and the piano (in the second half) left me speechless and was well
deserving of the standing ovation that they were given.

...I won't go through every act, but suffice it to say that the show could have
lost 3 or 4 acts and been a lot tighter. The young Russians were superb though -
of course they can play piano, both of them, while juggling with their spare
hands...

The show was a mixed bag and did go on a whole long time, highlights of course
being 'the russians'...
At this point I noticed my new found South African buddy passing with Vova the
russian lad, so I took a few pics for him to take back with him: 8 was fine, 9
they could do too!
After they'd finished Andrew suggested I had a go at passing with Vova, I had a
go... 7 was fine, 8 failed so I suggested to stick with 6 and he teach me some
tricks, but I'm a slow learner and nothing major was achieved!... Its funny how
you can get apprehensive about juggling with someone who is 'so damn good', but
in fact once you get into it, its cool, its like meeting a rockstar for the
first time and finding out they're real people at heart...

"...Vova and Olga were remarkably accomplished..."

"Stars of the show Vova and Olga
Their first act was club passing, which was very impressive. They also had the
last turn of the night with their piano playing whilst juggling routine. Vova
played the piano (classical tune) whilst Olga juggled slowly, and then she
turned the music over and the music became more upbeat. They then switched roles,
and eventually both played the piano whilst juggling! A well deserved standing
ovation ensued!"

"Juggling convention organisers strive to book the best they possibly can &
rarely do they fail to deliver something spectacular. Who will forget Rod Laver
in Nottingham, Toby Walker in Durham, Anthony Gatto in York, the Russians in
Cardiff or Vova & Olga in Whitstable?"

"Great convention the Russians rule!"
